The Wilfa Dew humidifier HU1A-430C is easy to unpack and feels solid and stable. The shape is square and although it’s plastic, it resembles brushed aluminum. On the front there is a large display with touch function. This is a humidifier that, due to its design, works best if placed on a surface elevated slightly above the floor. Unlike other manufacturers, this is not a product that is meant to stand on the floor.

Unpacking and setting up
When I need to add water, I just take the lid off the humidifier and take out an insert that looks like a bucket with a handle. It’s super easy to go to the faucet, fill up to the line that says to fill and no more, and put it back in the humidifier.

The Wilfa Dew humidifier HU1A-430C has a large touch display on the front and if for some reason you don’t want to download the app, it’s possible to operate the humidifier without it.
The WiLife app
The accompanying app is easy to understand and simple to use. However, the language in the app is not impressive and while I don’t think it’s a big issue, it might be worth the manufacturer taking a second look at it.
In the app, I can set the desired humidity, adjust the amount of steam and start a timer. What I do not find, however, is a schedule. According to the manufacturer, I should also be able to see when it’s time to add water in the app – but that’s not the same as being able to read the current water level. This is something I miss.
How to use and control it
I read that the humidifier should be able to handle rooms up to 70 square meters, and since our entire apartment is 77 square meters, I put it on a sideboard in the kitchen and think that should be enough. The kitchen and living room are connected in a fairly open floor plan and to control the humidity, I place my Airthings View Plus in the living room at a distance of about 7 meters from the humidifier itself.

A humidifier is not a self-sustaining product, it requires some manual intervention. The manufacturer is clear when he informs me as a user that the water tank must be cleaned every three days. If you don’t do this, microorganisms can build up in the water, which are then discharged into the air. Fortunately, the humidifier is easy to clean. Just lift the lid, take out the water tank and wash it. It’s super easy!

The Wilfa Dew humidifier HU1A-430C also has a UV function to kill bacteria in the air for disinfection and it can also deliver hot steam. According to the manufacturer, hot steam spreads faster than cold steam. I’m not sure if the UV function and hot steam are really true, but that’s what the manufacturer says.

I can’t find information on how long the runtime is, but when I tested it myself, it lasted for about 24 hours.
The humidifier also has an aroma box that I can drip some water-soluble aroma oil into to fill my home with fragrance. Of course, it’s not for everyone, but I still think it would have been nice if Wilfa had included a small sample of the aroma oil. It could also have generated additional sales.

After running the humidifier for a few hours, I compare it to my reference Airthings and conclude that Wilfa does an excellent job.
Conclusion
The Wilfa Dew humidifier can handle a large area and is easy to clean. It’s easy to use and is both stylish and sturdy. While I can’t guarantee that the UV function will deliver what it promises, I like the idea of it. It lacks a few desirable features to make it to the top, but if you can do without them and you don’t need to have a humidifier placed on the floor, there’s no obvious reason why this isn’t a good buy.
