American Cosori has a wide range of kitchen appliances in its home country, while here we only get to see the most popular airfryer models. However, the new importer has started to bring in some other types of appliances, so that may be changing. The Dual Blaze TwinFry comes with a handy grill tongs with silicone grips and, in addition to the instruction manual, a more educational quick guide. You can also scan a QR code to get recipes. A wire basket is available as an accessory when you need extra airflow.
Construction and maintenance
The basket has a sturdy handle, which can be handy if you need to carry the basket to the sink. But it also makes the appliance even wider than it needs to be. The Dual Blaze TwinFry has a single large basket with a partition in the centre. But unlike Wilfa, there are two separate roasting racks at the bottom, so the divider goes all the way down and creates separate chambers.
The Twinfry part of the name is easy to understand, while the Dual Blaze means that it also has heating elements at the bottom of the appliance. This is claimed to make cooking more efficient, but we don’t really understand how, as the bottom elements only heat the bottom of the basket. It is said that you need to clean the elements, but not how, although a regular dishwashing brush worked well for us. Both the basket and the grill are supposed to be dishwasher safe, which we appreciate.
Handling
The large touch panel allows you to select the basket and adjust temperature and time. Thanks to the fact that they have written in plain text what the buttons do, you don’t have to guess what cryptic symbols mean. However, the panel is angled upwards, making it difficult for children to use. Instead of having quick programmes for different types of food, you choose between different types of cooking. Air fry, roast, bake, grill, reheat and dry. We actually prefer this, as the quick programmes are often wrong anyway.
Even easier to use, Cosori has an app for its airfryer. This means you can sit on the sofa and see how much cooking time is left. But above all, thanks to the app, you can reprogramme the presets, which makes them much more useful than in other appliances. The app also has some recipes, but unfortunately they are in English and feel very American. However, there are good tables for many common foods.
How to cook
The default setting in airfryer mode is 200 degrees for 20 minutes, but as mentioned, you can change it yourself. One basket reached 180 degrees in 2 minutes and 40 seconds, which is fast, but then continued to rise to 190 degrees before starting to oscillate between this and 176 degrees. The other basket reached 175 degrees after 3 minutes 20 seconds and stayed there for a few minutes. After a while, however, both curves stabilised just above 180 degrees, so they still get a pass. In everyday use, it feels predictable, so we had no problems getting bacon, sausages and egg dishes exactly how we wanted them.
Conclusion
The Cosori Dual Blaze TwinFry feels like a well thought out appliance. The basket is sturdy and the two halves properly separated and everything is dishwasher safe. The touch panel is easy to understand and we like the fact that you select the cooking method rather than the food using the quick buttons. It’s even easier with the app where you can re-programme the buttons, as well as follow the cooking from the sofa. Heating is quick and we were pleased with the results of the cooking.
