Okay, so they’ve made a record player. Or rather, Thorens has done it for them, but it’s still pretty special that a speaker manufacturer decides to launch a turntable.
What’s next? A cassette player?

However, there’s no getting away from the fact that Dynaudio’s turntable is actually pretty cool. The player is based on a direct-drive Thorens TD 403DD, with a TP 150 arm, but with a twist.

There’s a built-in riaa stage that can be disconnected, but there’s also an optical output here for connection to an amplifier with a DAC. That’s not all, there’s also Bluetooth here for those who want to stream. Interestingly, it’s not equipped with a dodgy cartridge, but with Ortofon’s brand new Concorde Music Blue. A new MM pickup that comes fully assembled on a removable headshell.

It is available in black or white, but also in walnut or oak veneer, and looked pretty snazzy connected to a pair of Focus 50 in black high gloss.
By the way, Dynaudio also showed the new loudspeakers, and they’ll be arriving like pearls on a string in the autumn. That’s also when the turntable arrives, November to be precise. The price is estimated at around 2,000 euros.

Danish Dynaudio has four new speaker models at the High End trade fair in Munich as well as new technology in surround sound and car stereo.
