Apart from the Michell Gyrodeck, transparent turntables have been few and far between. Pro-Ject is perhaps the only company that has had some models in transparent acrylic for a long time.
Like this one, the Pro-Ject Perspective, which has been in production for a number of years. But now that has come to an end.
They will now produce 400 units, which they call the Perspective Final Edition.
The turntable is built like a 6.9 Perspective from the 90s. With an acrylic plinth as the base for a belt-driven platter resting on three adjustable feet, with the motor located on the opposite side of the tonearm base.
The arm has a 230 mm carbon fibre arm tube with height adjustment and is fitted with an Ortofon 2M Bronze MM pickup.
The platter is made of aluminium with Pro-Ject’s TPE damping, with the steel axle rotating in a brass bearing.
The turntable also comes with a dust cover and a personalised certificate, and if you wish, you can order a numbered disc with your name on it.
The 400 copies are available to order now and the price is listed at 1,400 euros.
