With the ATH-TWX7 earbuds, Audio-Technica promises much of the same sound that we loved about the flagship ATH-TWX9, including the same 5.8 mm drivers. At the same time, we are promised top-class active noise cancellation.
Crystal-clear conversational sound should be achieved with beamforming MEMS microphones, but before you get too excited about fancy tech terms, this is what all headphones and earbuds are equipped with today. It’s to compensate for the fact that the microphones are located behind the mouth and therefore need a little magic to achieve a proper sound.
Audio-Technica are good, but have so far failed to convince us with their wireless earbuds. That changes with the ATH-TWX9.
What is a bit special, however, is that the conversation microphones have two settings for different environments: Natural and Noise Cancelling. Noise cancelling will muffle a lot of external noise, but will also make the user’s voice sound more artificial and processed.
Customise the sound
The ATH-TWX7 has various functions for customising the sound. Via the Audio-Technica app, you can adjust EQ, activate low delay and let ambient sound come through.
A unique Soundscape function will produce relaxing nature sounds or masking noise to help you concentrate.
Battery life
The earbuds should last 6.5 hours on a single charge, with the included case totalling 20 hours of battery life. The earbuds themselves are IPX4 certified, which means they can withstand rain, sweat and water.
