Few high-end brands are as widely known and loved as American McIntosh, whose glass faceplates with big blue VU meters are for many the image of heavyweight enthusiast Hi-Fi. The same can be said for Italian speaker brand Sonus faber, with its speakers in exclusive leather and polished precious wood.
The McIntosh MA12000 will break your back and empty your wallet, but the sound will make you euphoric and happy.
The two brands together form the McIntosh Group (formerly Fine Sounds Group), and they now have a new owner. Namely the international investment firm Highlander Partners. This is according to a press release from Highlander Partners, who describes themselves as a firm focused on acquiring companies and gaining majority control with the aim of creating value.

“We have developed our investment strategy around consumer-focused brands and luxury goods over several years. The opportunity to acquire brands as strong as those of McIntosh Group does not come along often, and we are very excited to be a part of the company’s next chapter,” said Jeff L. Hull, Highlander Partners’ President and CEO.
McIntosh Group directors Jeff Poggi and Charles Randall comment: “We are excited to continue our growth trajectory with the Highlander team. We see an abundance of opportunity across brands and product categories, and believe Highlander’s financial approach can help us capitalize on those opportunities.“
